The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. Designed to assess a student’s readiness for higher education, the SAT evaluates critical reading, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills. It serves as a key component in the college application process, helping institutions gauge an applicant’s academic preparedness.

Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW): The EBRW section of SAT combines critical reading and writing skills. It includes reading comprehension passages, sentence completion questions, and tasks that assess a candidate’s command of English language conventions.

Mathematics: The Mathematics section evaluates mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills. It covers algebra, geometry, statistics, and other mathematical concepts. The SAT does not allow the use of a calculator for a portion of this section to assess mental math abilities.

Essay (Optional): While the SAT essay is optional, many colleges require or recommend it. The essay assesses a student’s ability to analyze and articulate an argument. Candidates are provided with a passage and are required to analyze the author’s argument.

Multiple-Choice and Grid-In Questions: The SAT includes multiple-choice questions and grid-in questions in the Mathematics section. Grid-in questions require candidates to calculate and enter numerical answers without the aid of multiple-choice options.

Reading Passages: The EBRW section features reading passages that assess a student’s ability to comprehend and analyze written material. These passages cover a range of topics, including literature, history, and science.
